Under Armour Breaks into U.S. Soccer Market in 2016

With global presence and successful partnerships with Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United/Netherlands star Memphis Depay, Under Armour has become a major threat to the brands that have “owned” the sport for decades now.

“Under Armour has quickly become a major player in the global soccer scene, and we believe that this partnership will benefit all who are involved in the game both here and abroad,” – NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson.

NASL is the first soccer organization in the United States to partner up with the brand and will be using the Under Armour Desafio ball as the official league match ball starting in the 2016 season.

In addition to exposing the brand to all the NASL teams, Under Armour has also secured a partnership with the legendary NY Cosmos team, who also play in the NASL. Cosmos will be decked out with kits, training and traveling gear this year as well.

“We are very excited about this new alliance with Under Armour,” said New York Cosmos chief operating officer Erik Stover. “We share many of the same brand values, including ambition and innovation. Stover also added that “Under Armour is one of the fastest growing performance brands in the world and we can’t wait to share our new kit with our fans,”
