Technology Connected: IBM Partners with LAFC

LAFC continues to make major moves ahead of kicking off MLS play in 2018. With two other teams joining the league next season – Atlanta United FC and Minnesota United – the soon-to-be second MLS club in Los Angeles is doing all that it can to stay in the news while not actually kicking a ball.

After securing naming rights for their new stadium with Banc of California at the end of August, this week they announced another major sponsor for their stadium in IBM. The club and the tech giant aim to create a connected stadium to optimize fan experience all throughout the game day. While IBM has a history of this in other sports, including tennis and golf majors, this is their first foray into Major League Soccer.

With other new stadiums on the horizon for the league, plus renovations of current ones, we expect this won’t be the last we hear of IBM and MLS.
