This past weekend, the Gilt Edge Soccer Marketing digital team, with some help from the experiential team, traveled to Washington D.C. to support our partners during the Premier League Mornings Live event. While the event itself required an unspeakable amount of content capture, there were plenty of activities on the days leading up to that allowed us as a team to shoot exciting pieces of content for our followers. So buckle up as we take you along many of the experiences which made this weekend successful.
Capitals pl trophy
On Thursday morning we had the pleasure of joining the Capitals for a practice on the ice. However, we did not come alone. Knowing that many of the players are Premier League fans, we decided to bring along the iconic Premier League Trophy for the players to snap photos with after practice. Despite their questioning, no, one cannot drink beer out of the PL trophy as one would out of Lord Stanley’s Cup! See below for how the practice and photo session culminated.

Mascot tour of d.c.
On Friday morning, our Premier League mascots (Gully of Brighton & Hove Albion, Gunnersaurus of Arsenal F.C., Stamford & Bridget of Chelsea F.C., and Filbert of Leicester City) were shown the city in true tourist fashion but the Washington Wizards mascot, G-Wiz.
G-Wiz brought a D.C. double-decker tour bus and brought us all to some of the capital’s most iconic locations. The Georgetown riverfront, The Lincoln Memorial and reflecting pond, our mascots were even able to see the White House. Of course, we had to bring along a soccer ball to play with fans at each location to fully bring the Premier League to the District. See below to catch all of the kooky happenings that occurred as our mascots took over D.C.

Mascots vs nationals race
After the mascots toured D.C. with G-Wiz they were invited to Ryan Zimmerman Park where they took on the Washington Nationals Presidents in many different activities. First, they entered into the Presidents’ domain for a quick inning of baseball. Afterward, the Presidents entered our mascot’s domain for a penalty kick shoot-out. You can probably imagine who dominated that one! Lastly, our mascots challenged the Presidents’ to a race, only this time it was on our turf (literally, a turf soccer field). Check in below to see who came out victorious.

An Ironclad Wedding
Premier League mornings dominate many mornings, but you’d have to think that there are some that remain off-limits, like weddings perhaps? This was not the case for local West Ham fans Drew and his fiancé, Alyssa. Drew was out bright and early for the Premier League Live Fan Fest to talk with NBC’s own Rebecca Lowe about his wedding day and get a special message from a West Ham Icon. Not a bad way to spend the morning of your wedding day!

Alan Shearer Surprise
8 die-hard @NUFC fans thought we were filming a documentary about @alanshearer.
Unbeknownst to them – Alan was listening in from the room next door. Their reactions are not to be missed. pic.twitter.com/DfoyimQn8M
