Liverpool brings Anfield to NYC

The Anfield match day experience is special. For fans who have never experienced its magic, we brought the atmosphere stateside to New York City – home of the largest contingent of LFC fans in the United States.

Reds fans lined the streets in anticipation of the immersive experience that put them inside Anfield. With the collaboration of Lightbox, a premiere high-tech venue in Manhattan, over 600 supporters were virtually teleported over 3,300 miles to Liverpool over the course of the weekend.

An immersive Anfield experience

To lead fans through a traditional match day experience, we brought in an actual Anfield tour guide, Terry, from across the pond. During the immersive experience, Terry talked attendees through everything, including transportation to the stadium, walking from pub to pub for a pint and a bite to eat, and all the historical artifacts surrounding the legendary stadium.

Once inside the Anfield gates, fans were virtually walked through the locker room and out of the tunnel – not before touching the famous “This is Anfield” sign, of course. Fans were then treated to the pre-match routine, including being surrounded by LFC supporters as they sang You’ll Never Walk Alone. To wrap up the experience, fans received a pitch-level view of some of Liverpool’s biggest moments from this season.

In addition to the fully immersive experience, fans were also able to take pictures with the UEFA Champions League trophy, purchase limited edition merchandise, and even try their hand at beating a professional FIFA gamer. This special event encompassed everything an LFC fan could ask for, and more.

A select group of fans also attended a special VIP event where, in addition to The Anfield Experience, they attended a special Q&A with LFC legend, Sami Hyypiä. The evening was hosted by former Olympian and pro player, broadcaster, and host, Melissa Ortiz.
