Modelo No Stranger to Soccer Sponsorship

Mexican beer brand Modelo is expanding in more ways than one. Currently the fastest growing beer brand in the United States, they’re also a new CONCACAF sponsor in a deal announced earlier this month.

The partnership runs through 2020 and sees them named the Official Beer of the CONACAF Gold Cup and the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. They’ll also be the sponsor of the Women’s World Cup Qualifying Championship, Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship, the Futsal Championship, and the Beach Soccer Championship.

This is Modelo’s first deal with CONCACAF, but they are no stranger to soccer sponsorship in the United States and Mexico. Some highlights of past sponsorship deals include:

  • Back in the summer of 2015, Modelo tapped stars of the U.S. Men’s National Team and Mexican National Team with Clint Dempsey and Miguel Layun to serve as brand ambassadors. That campaign positioned Modelo as the “Official Beer of the Beautiful Game”
  • Also in 2015, Modelo was the jersey sponsor for the inaugural season of the Tulsa Roughnecks USL team.
