The world’s second biggest soccer club has become the second foreign soccer club to set up a regional office in America.
We previously wrote about Bayern Munich’s US expansion and how their NYC office has been a major factor in driving that growth over the last two plus seasons. Now, it’s the Blaugrana’s turn to set-up shop with an official office in NYC.
Yesterday, FC Barcelona officially inaugurated it’s U.S. office with a plethora of events and photo opps with front office staff, club ambassadors, and former players (Ronaldinho, David Villa). The office will serve multiple purposes for the club – first and foremost, driving new revenue streams from American partners.
Additionally, the club will tap their new office for charitable work by expanding The FC Barcelona Foundation throughout the States. With a mission to improve education through a curriculum of sports and physical fitness, FC Barcelona is starting by partnering with public schools throughout New York’s five boroughs.
You can read a recap of all the events on FC Barcelona’s website and watch the sizzle reel that was shown at the opening ceremony below.

It will be interesting to see just how Barça decide to fully utilize their new digs. They’re arguably the most popular soccer team in America right now, and this regional focus should help them move from strength to strength.
