These stats describe two of North America’s brightest soccer stars: best friends, Seattle Sounders heroes, and U.S. internationals Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan.
The project
Through a collaborative and multi-faceted project with the YMU Group’s North American Sports Division and it’s player-clients Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan, Gilt Edge Soccer Marketing conceptualized, pitched and placed the opportunity for Roldan and Morris to play the Pacific Northwest’s legendary Chambers Bay Golf Course with GOLF Magazine senior writer Dylan Dethier.
The exclusive dynamic interview entirely took place on the course, the home of the 2015 U.S. Open, rather than inside a stuffy conference room or a staticky ZOOM call.
There was no Q&A format. No typical journalist notepads with unreadable scribble. No press officer to monitor the usage of proper “coach speak.”
Instead, the players that appear destined to play for the U.S. in this winter’s FIFA World Cup went stroke for stroke with Dethier — a reporter used to tracking Tiger Woods and his peers.
How Gilt Edge provided PR concierge
Gilt Edge Soccer Marketing played PR concierge throughout the entire process, including coordination with the course, collaboration with the spectacular Montane Productions in Seattle — and navigating the diplomacy required to allow Montane Productions to create video and photo content on the course and from the air via drones. The content collection officially went live on Aug. 1, 2022.
The several months-long process was an all around success, sharing their off-the-pitch passion with a community populated by all demographics across the world — no matter the age, race, gender, or ability.
