Premier League Brings Heat to Super Bowl

The stars aligned on February 13th and no, I’m not talking about all the celebrities who made it to LA for the Super Bowl. I’m talking about all the sporting action across NBC properties – Premier League matches, the Winter Olympics, and of course, the showdown between the Rams and Bengals.

But, let’s be real. Super Bowl Sunday is all about the spread of food to take in the game, the (might I say epic) halftime show, and commercials.

To ensure Premier League and NFL fans could spice up their Sunday meals and snacks, the PL and NBC created co-branded hot sauces, featuring names applicable to both English and American football: Just Offside Jalapeño, A Kick to It Cayenne, and Red Zone Habanero.

Ahead of the big day, fans across America could enter to win a spicy surprise, but they weren’t quite sure what they’d be receiving.

During Super Bowl week, the Ferguson brothers, both long snappers in the NFL and massive PL and Chelsea FC fans, began dropping hints on @PLinUSA about what fans could expect to receive.

Reid (Buffalo Bills) and Blake (Miami Dolphins) brought all the fire-y puns to the table to then unveil that 1,000 lucky fans would be rewarded with the three-pack of hot sauces, set to arrive on their doorsteps in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.

Sunday morning kicked off with Premier League action, where fans added the heat to their breakfast burritos and full English breakfasts.

Once the PL action wrapped for the day, it was the perfect time for a quick afternoon nap before getting into the kitchen to whip up some delicious appetizers and spice up their Super Bowl Sunday.
