In the Digital Soccer Fan report we recently released, we highlighted Reddit as source for the industry to keep an eye on as the front page of the soccer world. One of the subreddits discussed was /r/soccer – the place for general soccer conversations and debate – and since 2012 various users have put together a year-end census to get a sense of who is subscribed to the subreddit, who they follow, where they live, whether they still play, etc.
User /u/ICameHereToDrinkMilk released the 2016 /r/soccer census results after almost 15,000 responses (there are over 550,000 subscribers) and the results help paint the picture of the average Reddit-user. Below are some of the key points from the census results. For the full results, click here.

- 90% below age 30
- 54% currently students
- 20% have been subscribed to /r/soccer for less than 12 months
- 38% watch 3 or more matches a week
- 30% are from the U.S.
- 61% attended at least one match in the last 12 months
- 21% are from England
- 86% currently play or have played soccer
