Following the success of the inaugural ‘SheBelieves’ Cup, the U.S. Soccer Federation has renewed the tournament for three more years, to turn it into an annual event. This year’s tournament, which featured England, France, and Germany in addition to the U.S. saw more than 50,000 tickets sold for the USWNT matches. The European countries have already committed to participate in future tournaments.
Besides being able to play competitive games against strong opposition, the SheBelieves Cup is expected to turn a profit next year. More important than the financial aspect, is the impact of the #SheBelieves messaging to help empower female athletes. This year saw the USWNT host multiple events for female students, military members, and fans in all three of the cities that hosted matches.
