Let’s face it. In 2021, cord-cutting has been normalized and people are eschewing traditional cable TV subscriptions in favor of streaming options. However, with a multitude of options, the landscape is muddied and complicated.
To further complicate things, long has there been a market where piracy and illegal streaming of soccer games is a normal occurrence for many fans. Don’t get or don’t want to pay for the channel? Find an illegal stream, of which there are many.
According to our research, 52 percent of soccer fans have watched a game via illegal streams. Over a quarter of fans (27%) do so on a regular basis… much to the chagrin of leagues and their TV and streaming partners.
