During the opening weekend of the 2021-22 Premier League season, NBC networks averaged just under 630,000 viewers across TV and streaming offerings.
This makes it the most-watched opening weekend for the league since 2015, when opening weekend averaged 694,000 viewers. The NBC network game of the weekend, Liverpool versus Norwich, averaged 912,000 viewers, while Man City versus Tottenham averaged 818,000 viewers on NBCSN.
As a point of comparison, the Messi-less FC Barcelona team opened their LaLiga campaign against Real Sociedad on ABC, averaging 465,000 viewers.
