Chelsea FC Releases USA Fan-Culture Series

Leading up to their U.S. preseason tour, Chelsea FC debuted a video series, called The Bridge, highlighting the fan culture among stateside Blues fans. The series is a follow-up to last year’s 5 Boroughs series, in which one fan from each of New York City’s boroughs was highlighted.

This time around, Chelsea FC head to Los Angeles and Miami to tell more fan stories. Back again is Mel D. Cole, storyteller and photographer extraordinaire, and Charcoal Pitch FC to explore what makes Blue fans in the U.S. unique. We were delighted to again collaborate, produce, and drive this project forward.

Meet the fans featured in The Bridge

Like 5 Boroughs, The Bridge helps tell the story of fandom through each subject’s connection to Los Angeles and Miami.

Quinn XCII

The musical artist is a Chelsea fan through-and-through and in this video, Mel D. Cole and the Detroit native turned Venice Beach resident go to Quinn’s favorite tattoo parlor to get some art featuring his all-time favorite player, Didier Drogba.

Homar

In this episode, Mel D. Cole talks to Homar, a die-hard Chelsea fan and Cuban-American about his fandom and what makes his Little Havana neighborhood so unique.

Jose

Mel D. Cole travels to Inglewood, CA – the City of Champions – to chat with Jose about Chelsea and some of his favorite hometown spots, including Charly’s Restaurant and Randy’s Donuts.

Andrea

Get to know Andrea, a Miami resident with a close bond with the Chelsea thanks to friends in London. From Brickell to The Bridge, Andrea’s fandom runs deep.

Su Jin

In this episode, Mel D. Cole heads back to Los Angeles to meet with Su Jin, a Koreatown resident who likens the community feel of her neighborhood to the Chelsea community she’s seen firsthand in more than 20 trips to London.

Biz

To wrap up the series, meet Biz, an Ethiopian-born and Indiana-raised South Beach resident who became a Chelsea fan thanks to the many African-born players who featured for the Blues.
