Austin FC, the 27th MLS franchise, isn’t taking the field until the 2021 season, but they’ve received a groundswell of support in the form of season ticket memberships. As of the end of August, the team officially sold out of its season ticket inventory – an impressive feat for a team starting from scratch. Austin FC officially announced the accomplishment on social media and via email to season ticket holders.

According to Reddit user byubader, Austin FC received more than 40,000 initial deposits for season tickets. Of those who submitted initial deposits, roughly 35 percent (15,500) secured season tickets. Based on a stadium capacity of 20,500, nearly 76 percent of the stadium ticket inventory has already been sold for Austin FC’s inaugural season. The remaining tickets will be for single game sales and multi-game packages, both of which depositors who didn’t get season tickets will have exclusive early access to.
The good news continues for the Austin franchise that recently signed their first Designated Player, Paraguayan Cecilio DomĂnguez. Of course we’d be remiss if we didn’t also mention the club’s part owner and Minister of Culture, Matthew McConaughey, recently lending his credence and star power to celebrate the return of the MLS season following the completion of the MLS is Back Tournament.
