Over the course of the past 6 months, about a hundred U12 boys and girls teams across the U.S. and Mexico have been competing for their spot in Bimbo’s Champions Cup at Talen Energy Stadium.
The Champions Cup is a youth international friendly match between the U.S. Bimbo B-Active tournament winners and Mexico’s Futbolito tournament winners at the U12 age group. The teams get the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia for an overnight trip complete with a welcome dinner at the hotel, mingling with the other teams, and a once in a lifetime experience at the Philadelphia Union’s stadium.
As part of the experience the kids did a World Cup style walk out, had a personal message on the video board from Union defender, Fabinho, a catered lunch at the stadium, player appearance, and complete with a trophy ceremony after the matches concluded.
The Mexico boys and girls teams edged out the U.S. in two highly competitive and entertaining games! The players (and parents) certainly got a small taste of what it’s like to play in a professional stadium and be treated like professional players! We want to thank our partners at the Union for helping to put on an unforgettable event!
