Soccer on U.S. Television November 2017

The penultimate month of the calendar is in the books and like the months that came before, it, too, was filled with soccer – so let us give thanks.

MLS playoffs started (and then stopped… and then started) and by the end of the month, the MLS Cup matchup was set – a mid-December rematch of last year’s final with Toronto hosting Seattle. More on that next month.

Further on down the road in Mexico, the first leg of the Apertura semi-finals was contested between Tigres and América, and Monterrey and Monarcas. Like MLS, the Apertura final was played in December. Liga MX dominated the American airwaves and had four of the five most-watched games of the month.

In Europe, seasons continued and Manchester City and Bayern Munich continued to pull away in their respective leagues. One thing to note – the Premier League had a few big match-ups in the month and two, Liverpool vs. Chelsea and Manchester United vs. Newcastle kept Liga MX from having all ten of the most-watched games in November.

That’s it, folks. As I write this we’re almost halfway through December, which means we’ll see you on the other side with a full 2017 recap in January. Storylines abound to recap the year, but as always, another great year as we help chart the rise of the sport in our country.
