Allianz Field: The New Home of Minnesota United

Minnesota United has announced a multi-year naming rights deal with Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. Scheduled to be completed in 2019, Allianz Field will be the permanent home of Minnesota United and is located in between the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The Loons will continue to play at University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium through the 2018 MLS season. Their new home will open with a capacity of 19,400 but will be expandable to more than 24,000 in the future. It will also feature a standing wall for 2,800 supporters.

This will be the eighth stadium around the world that is sponsored by Allianz. Notable others include Allianz Arena, the home of Bayern Munich, the newly-named Allianz Stadium, home to Italian giants Juventus, and the Allianz Riviera, home to OGC Nice and the site of Iceland’s upset over England in Euro 2016.

It’s great to see Minnesota United secure both jersey sponsorship and stadium sponsorship within their first season. Even better that it comes from two local companies. We can’t wait for the first home match at Allianz Field in 2019!
